Liver Cleansing

Dandelion rt. (Taraxacum officinale): The main benefits of this herb are exerted upon the function of the liver. It has the ability to clear obstructions and stimulate and aid the liver to eliminate toxins from the blood. It also has a very high mineral content, which many of our foods today lack due to depleted soils. The leaf is one of the finest diuretics, and can be taken for fluid retention, cystitis, nephritis, weight loss, and hepatitis. Burdock rt. (Arctium lappa): A cooling, bitter herb, is useful for clearing heat and is useful for clearing inflammations and fluid retention. Also useful for clearing skin diseases. Slippery elm bk (Ulmus fulva): Good for both diarrhea and dysentery. It is a strength giving food that is usually accepted even when the stomach will not hold anything else. Yellow dock rt.(Rumex crispus): Functions as a purgative, similar to Rhubarb, but with a milder action. Also known as having a tonic-laxative effect. Cascara bark (Cascara sagrada): It is one of the safer laxatives during pregnancy and for atonic conditions. Because of its antispasmodic properties, it does not cause griping or colicky pains, nor does it create laxative dependency as does Senna. Not debilitating when used in the proper dosage. Licorice Rt (Glycyrrhiza uralensis): Harmonize the actions of the other herbs. Ginger root (Zingiber officinale): (You add to the blend) Ginger acts as a stimulant and warming agent. I find it best to use the fresh root, as the dried root changes its energy from warm to HOT. The taste will be very different.
