Antispasmodic Tincture

      Valerian root (Valeriana officinalis) is good for relieving pain, cramps, nervous headache, and generally good for people with a heated condition. Chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla) has a high concentration of easily assimilible calcium, which lack of calcium has been linked with cramping, spasms, etc.. Lobelia (Lobelia inflata) acts as a relaxant for muscles and nerves. It is often used in combination with other herbs for its’ relaxing, antispasmodic, and pain relieving properties. Note that large doses of this herb can cause vomiting. Skullcap (Scutellaria lateriflora) is also high in calcium, as well as potassium and magnesium, which help to strengthen and quiet the entire nervous system. Black cohosh (Cimicifuga racemosa) is a useful antispasmodic which is useful for nervous conditions, cramps and pain. This herb should be avoided in the 1st and 2nd trimester of pregnancy. Large doses of this can also cause dim vision, nausea, and dizziness. Licorice (Glycyrrhiza uralensis) acts as a harmonizer. Ginger root (Zingiber officinale) increases the tonic properties of the blend. Cayenne (Capsicum frutescens) acts as a stimulant to carry herbs quickly and effectively throughout the body to specified locations, in turn making the herbs more potent.
